Bich-Yen Nguyen joined Soitec in 2007 as a Senior Fellow managing the technology development of new Digital/RF SOI device fields and applications including stacking 2.5D/3D applications using SmartcutTM.
Today, the RF and FD-SOI technologies have been widely adopted in wireless/5G communication, AIoT, and automotives.
Prior to joining Soitec, Bich-Yen was a senior manager and Dan Noble Fellow at Freescale/Motorola.
She has been recognized for her leadership and success in developing advanced material and CMOS technology for many IC products.
She has also been instrumental in developing and transferring new technologies to production since 1980. Her development and patent licensing have contributed over 1 billion dollars in revenue for both companies during her tenure.
Bich-Yen’s honors and awards include being named a Dan Noble Fellow (2001), the highest technical award in Motorola, and the Master of Innovation Award (2003). She also received the National Women in Technology Lifetime Achievement Award (2004) and was named an IEEE Fellow (2020) and IEEE Frederik Philips Award (2024) for leadership in the research, development, and commercialization of the innovative SOI substrates, process technologies and devices.
She holds over 200 worldwide patents and has authored/coauthored more than 350 technical papers and book chapter on IC process, integration, devices, and circuits. She also serves on technical and executive committees for premier international conferences.
